Gatherworks, Inc. originally formed to provide software add-ons for video conferencing, but quickly decided to change direction when it saw a need in the marketplace for web conferencing. GatherPlace was introduced soon after as a web conferencing service developed to assist small and medium sized businesses communicate, collaborate, and sell at an affordable price. GatherPlace has grown to support companies in 80 countries. Our client base is comprised of such customers as MIT, Discovery.com, University of Illinois, NPR Radio, Moneytrax, QuickCaption, and Beltone Electronics.


The Potter’s School (TPS) first became a GatherWorks customer in 2005 and has been using our GatherPlace service exclusively ever since to deliver online courses to more than 4000 students all over the world. When the school recognized their need for a new registration system that would solve the problems unique to their homeschool educational space they turned to us and the resulting collaboration, called StudyPlace, is now available for use by other organizations.

Frik Strecker is President and CEO of GatherWorks. He has more than 20 years experience in Internet and web technologies. Prior to forming GatherWorks, Mr. Strecker held various executive positions at First Virtual Communications including Chief Technology Officer, Vice President of Worldwide Customer Support and Vice President of Engineering, where he played a key role in the architecture of the Click to Meet family of products. Mr. Strecker also held product line management positions at FORE Systems.
