Please use the definitions below to help you better understand the terms we use at GatherPlace. It is important to know these terms when requesting support help so that our representatives can accurately assess your customer service issue.
Account
Account refers to the number of user login credentials that are associated with your GatherPlace subscription.
Account Type refers to the type of account that you have chosen for your GatherPlace subscription. There are two different types of accounts that you can choose between
Individual Account or
Shared Account. See also
Master Account definition.
Individual Account refers to the type of
account that allows one person to host one
meeting at a time using a single login and to host an unlimited number of meetings per month. Multiple Individual Accounts may be purchased at the same time.
Shared Account refers to the type of
account that allows you to create an unlimited number of login accounts
(sub-accounts) for others to share. The users may host an unlimited number of
non-concurrent (only one at a time)
meetings per month. You may purchase multiple Shared Accounts to allow
concurrent (more than one at a time) meetings per month. The number of Shared Accounts equal the number of meetings you may host at the same time.
Sub-Accounts refers to the multiple user
accounts that are associated with a
Shared Account. The sub-accounts are managed by the
Master Account holder.
Master Account refers to the user of a
Shared Account who will manage the
sub-accounts associated with the Shared Account. He/She can also run reports for each sub-account.
GatherPlace
GP4 is the acronym used to refer to the GatherPlace
web conferencing program version 4 that is still used by some subscribers.
GP5 is the acronym used to refer to the GatherPlace
web conferencing program version 5 that is our most current version.
Integration refers to the process of creating a webpage or link on the client's website for their customers to access
web conferencing services. This provides clients a way to keep from having to send their customers to our website.
License refers to the legal document that permits customers to use the GatherPlace
web conferencing services and binds them to the conditions of use.
Hardware
Microphone Headset refers to the tool plugged into your computer and used to hear and transmit audio.
More »Mini-Plug is a type of plug found on audio devices used on PC and Macintosh computers. The mini-plug has one or two small round segmented pins that are plugged into the audio ports of the computer.
More »USB is a type of plug found on audio devices used on PC and Macintosh computers. The Universal Serial Bus (USB) consists of a single rectangular plug that is inserted into the audio ports of the computer.

Application refers to the different computer software programs on your computer or made available through GatherWorks.
Beta refers to the final phase of a software release cycle. The pre-release version of a software program typically indicates that the company wants customers to start using it to identify problems that they can address before it is officially released.
Desktop Sharing refers to the functionality of the GatherPlace software that allows
participants in a
web conferencing meeting to see the
presenter's computer screen. Also known as
screen sharing.
Operating System is a software program that acts as a conduit between a computer's hardware and software. Some examples of common operating systems include Linux, Unix, Windows XP, Mac OS.
Region Sharing refers to the functionality of the GatherPlace software that allows
participants in a
web conferencing meeting to see a region of the
presenter's computer screen. Sharing a region of the screen or hiding a region of the screen are alternatives to sharing the entire screen or desktop.
Screen Sharing refers to the functionality of the GatherPlace software that allows
participants in a
web conferencing meeting to see the
presenter's computer screen. Also known as
desktop sharing.
Teleconferencing refers to a conference of people located in various locations that enables voice communication via a conference call telephone number. Everyone pays for their own call.
VoIP refers to Voice Over Internet Protocol which is a method of using the Internet to send audio from one device to another. It is typically used as an alternative to telephones where the
participants use either computers with
headsets.
Web Browser a software application that allows users to navigate the World Wide Web using search engines. Examples include Safari, Netscape, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome.
Web Conferencing refers to a conference of people located in various locations that enables voice communication via computer audio or
teleconference as well as computer
desktop sharing.
Participants are able to listen to the
presenter and view his/her screen.
Webinar a term used to apply to a seminar conducted using
web conferencing technology.
Plan
Plan refers to the type of functionality you choose to subscribe to at GatherPlace. You can choose between the
Basic Plan (desktop viewing/sharing; remote control; voice teleconferencing among other features) or the
Premium Plan (everything from the Basic Plan plus recording and advanced teleconferencing).

Basic Plan refers to the type of functionality available with the purchase of the plan. The Basic Plan offers GatherPlace users
desktop viewing and sharing; remote control and support; and voice
teleconferencing among other features. Customers can also choose the
Premium Plan which offers additional features.

Premium Plan refers to the type of functionality available with the purchase of the plan. In addition for all the functionality of the

Premium Plan offers GatherPlace users meeting recording and advanced teleconferencing features.

Meeting
Access Code is a 7-digit code issued to
hosts when he/she plans a
meeting. The Access Code is provided to
guests either as a link or as a number. Guests use the code to enter the appropriate
room for the meeting.
Audio Tuning Wizard refers to the process of checking your audio before the start of a
meeting. Users can run the wizard to check the levels and clarity of incoming and outgoing audio.
Concurrent Meetings refers to the number of
meetings that are allowed to be conducted at the same time under the GatherPlace
license agreement.
Guests refer to people who join a
meeting to be conducted by another person.
Host refers to the person who manages the GatherPlace
accounts. He/She may or may not be the
presenter.
Invite Wizard refers to the options available to
hosts to send invitations out to
guests.
Moderator refers to a person who may be assisting the
presenter by monitoring text chat questions and requests to speak.
Moderator PIN refers to the Personal Identification Number (
PIN) for teleconference calls. It will allow you to mute and un-mute guests in the call.
Non-Concurrent Meeting refers to
meetings that cannot be conducted at the same time under the GatherPlace
license agreement.
Participants refer to people who join a meeting. Includes
host,
moderator,
presenter, and
guests.
PIN is a Personal Identification Number which
hosts/
moderators need to set when planning a meeting.
Presenter refers to the person who will be
sharing his/her screen with the
participants or
guests. He/She may or may not be the
host.
Private Chat a text chat capability available to
hosts and
presenters to communicate with certain
participants without other participants seeing it.
Public Chat a text chat capability available to
hosts and
presenters that is visible to all
participants in a meeting.
Room refers to a
web conferencing staging area that is entered using an
access code provided to
participants by the
host. Once participants enter a room they must join the
meeting.
Meeting refers to an active
web conferencing presentation that is entered after using an
access code to enter a
room and clicking the Join button.
